Welcome to Riverhead Free Library’s Books by Mail Program.
This service provides a convenient way for homebound RFL cardholders to obtain and return library materials by mail. This program is for patrons who are unable to visit the library due to a temporary or permanent disability. Only large print books and audio materials are eligible for delivery through this service. Some restrictions may apply to some of our newest materials and the library may cap the number of monthly deliveries.
As part of our Books by Mail Services, books are mailed to your home in a navy canvas bag and may be kept for up to four weeks. When you send them back, place them in the navy canvas bag and turn the address card over to display the Riverhead Free Library address in the plastic holder. You may leave the bag in your mailbox for your mail carrier to pick up. You pay no postage or overdue fines, but you are expected to return books in a timely manner. As always, materials that are not returned, or are returned in a damaged condition, will be your responsibility.
To enroll, please complete the application on the back of our Books by Mail Program form and return it to the library: certification by a medical professional is required. If you have any questions, please call the library at 631-727-3228 and ask for the Adult Reference Desk. We look forward to hearing from you!
