Liz Carrera is a self-taught artist born in Colorado and raised on the north coast of Long Island. She is currently working through a B.S. in Veterinary Technology (@ SUNY Canton) in addition to her recently achieved A.A.S. in Business Administration (@ SUNY SCCC).
Currently, Liz plans on using her education to take part in environmental conservation efforts as well as help animals in need, all the while continuing to develop artwork in her spare time. When she returns home from campus, Liz works as a veterinary assistant at a general practice, takes horseback riding lessons, and volunteers weekly at a wildlife rescue. And of course, she loves to paint!
In recent years, Liz has combined her passions for art and natural sciences to produce vibrant and expressionistic pet portraits. If you are interested in having your pet painted, please consider visiting her website and filling out an application! Commissions are greatly appreciated and directly fund Liz's education.
Please consider visiting the Riverhead Library Art Gallery where her works will be available from January to February.
Inktober
Inktober is an annual challenge where artists are prompted to create 31 ink drawings for each day of October. The event was founded in 2016 by ink artist Jake Parker and has gained increasing popularity amongst the online art community.
Liz completed 25 of 31 prompts during her time in college using black gel pens on matte paper. Each work is labeled with a number corresponding to its prompt.
