SAVING FIRE ISLAND FROM ROBERT MOSES with Christopher Verga .  In 1932 and again in 1962, urban planner Robert Moses attempted to pave the unspoiled and tranquil shorelines of Fire Island, which led to the creation of the Fire Island National Seashore.
