This program will include VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and AARP (American Association of Retired Persons)Tax Aide.
Aide / TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) at the Riverhead Free Library for Riverhead library card holders only. Non-card holders may register at a later date if openings are available.
The traditional VITA representatives are IRS - certified volunteers who prepare tax returns. If the return is in scope, the filer qualifies for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or income of $60,000 or less. VITA will assist persons with disabilities and limited English - speaking taxpayers.
The AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Tax - Aide / TCE are IRS-certified volunteers. AARP offers free tax return preparation service to individuals with low to moderate income. AARP Tax - Aide is available on Mondays and Fridays.
