The Riverhead Free Library offers a variety of volunteer programs for teens in grades 6-12 where they are able to earn community service hours. The teens will be given a certificate of completion at the end of each program which states the number of hours that were completed. Please view our newsletter and online calendar for additional community service opportunities.

Teen Reviewers

Looking for more community service hours?  The Teen Department is looking for teens in Grades 6-12 that are willing to read and review award winning books.  Stop by the Teen Services desk in the Teen Loft and ask to speak to a Librarian. Earn 3 hours of Community Service.

Teen Artist of the Month

The Teen Department at the Riverhead Library is looking for teens in Grades 6-12 that are interested in drawing, painting, photography, and Photoshop.  Stop by the Teen Services desk in the Teen Loft and ask to speak to a Librarian. Earn 4 hours of Community Service.

Passion Projects

Watch hand-picked documentaries by librarians that relate to social issues around the world. After you watch a documentary you feel passionately about, you will create a video stating what you have learned and how you would tackle the issue on a local or federal level. Earn 3 hours of community service.

Smiles to Go

Earn community service by coloring lovely pictures from Color A Smile and sending them to those in need! Earn 1 hour of community service.

Cards for Hospitalized Kids

Earn community service by decorating cards for sick children. Earn up to 4 hours of community service per month.
