Program Description
Event Details
From secret lives rediscovered to famous activists and organizations, join us for an exploration of the LGBTQIA+ history of the Lower East Side in this interactive virtual program with a live Tenement Museum Educator. All Tenement Museum programs are led by skilled Educators who engage audiences with their storytelling and offer opportunities to draw connections from past to present. Making use of oral histories from residents of our historic tenement buildings, personal memoirs, and archival research, we will examine a century of material to uncover a vibrant and visible Queer community while tracing the unique connection between our neighborhood and the growth of Queer culture and identity in New York City and beyond. An East End Libraries Event hosted by Westhampton Free Library.
