Pink By the Bay-Shines a Light on Teal

Sponsored by Northwell Health/Peconic Bay Medical Center

Pink by the Bay’s mission is to support breast cancer survivors while promoting education and increasing awareness in the community. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to detect it in its earliest stages. Increased awareness, education and early detection are critical. We hope that seeing all the pink will serve as a reminder to the community to schedule their annual mammograms.

Ovarian and breast cancers are linked through genetics, and some risk factors for ovarian cancer may also affect breast cancer risk. Teal is the color associated with ovarian cancer awareness. The bright color is meant to help raise awareness of the disease and to help educate people on symptoms, risk factors and support.
